Ex-Allen & Overy lawyer now GC of Saudi energy company

According to an online report, a former Allen & Overy projects specialist associate has taken over the top in-house slot at Saudi Arabian energy generator ACWA Power.

TEEGAN LINDSAY became general counsel (projects) at the Riyadh-based company from the beginning of this month. She joined the business in early 2010, having spent a brief stint at a Dubai private equity house.

Prior to that, Lindsay – who qualified in Australia in 1996 – spent six years at the London and Dubai offices of the magic circle firm, where she specialised in projects and construction work in the Middle East power and water sectors. Lindsay joins a small but growing group of women to have reached prominent positions in the Persian Gulf’s rapidly expanding legal sector. But while she will be at the top table of a Saudi business, her role is actually based in slightly more socially liberal Dubai.

She will lead a legal team of six UK and US-qualified lawyers. ACWA Power has some 2,300 employees on its books, operating plants producing electricity and desalinated water for the region. It is owned by the Saudi government and claims a capital value of USD1.4bn.
