Essar Global Fund’s GC steps down

Essar Global Fund Limited (EGFL) general counsel and chief compliance officer Raminder Singh has announced he will leave the firm at the end of the year, according to The Lawyer.

Singh joined Essar in 2010 from Vinson & Elkins’ London office. Before joining the private equity company Singh acted as the US firm’s Essar client partner.

He was originally brought into the company to help grow the group’s domestic legal team. His departure from Essar follows a decision by the company to review its business strategy.

Singh said, “I’m proud to have been involved in a very dynamic period of Essar’s growth and development, including its successful transition from a business conglomerate to that of a global diversified private equity fund. The change in the fund’s strategic direction coincides with my desire to explore other opportunities and fresh challenges.”

EGFL is a multi-billion dollar investment fund, which was foundered by India’s Ruia family. Its global investments are spread across the energy, metals and mining, infrastructure and services sectors.
