Du head of legal appointed onto ACC’s global board

Anneliese Reinhold, the general counsel and senior vice president – legal & regulatory affairs of Du, has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). The ACC is an in-house bar association for professional corporate counsel who practice in legal departments globally. It is also the largest in-house bar with 40,000 members in 85 countries. Reinhold, who was previously on the board of ACC Middle East chapter (ACCME) for three and a half years, was approached by ACC and voted on to the global Board at the Annual General Meeting held at Boston in October 2015. She commented, “The Middle East is important for the organisation as it is focused on expanding its diversity and international reach. It’s great that a representative from a local company in this region will now have a voice on the board.”

Reinhold shared about her responsibilities, “As I am on the board, we have to look at the organisation as a whole. I am looking forward to the next board meeting scheduled in February, and in particular to making a contribution to diversity of thought on the Board as it considers how best to serve its growing membership base going forward.”

She added that the key benefits of joining a global outfit such as ACC is the cost-effective and easy access to content and the network of lawyers across the globe. “The Annual Meeting held by ACC every year in the US is especially commendable. It is a three-day conference with fantastic content and is attended by around 3,500 delegates. Personally, it was an incredible experience for me to be able to network with my peers.”

Reinhold has 25+ years’ general counsel and partner-level experience gained in businesses and law firms spanning the Middle East, UK/EU and Australasia. Under her watch, in 2014 Du became the first in-house legal department of a locally-owned company in MENA to be awarded the Law Society of England & Wales’ prestigious Lexcel practice management accreditation. She has been profiled in Legal 500’s inaugural GC Powerlist: Middle East (2015) and is a sought after and regular conference speaker, and the recipient of numerous local and international legal Awards. Reinhold is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia, holds degrees in Law & Commerce (Economics & Accounting) from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ International Directors Program (Shanghai).
