Simmons & Simmons expands into ADGM with multidisciplinary team focused on funds, tech and AI

In a further expansion of its operations in the Middle East, international law firm Simmons & Simmons announced on January 5, 2026,  the opening of a new office in the ADGM, the Abu Dhabi Global Market.

Building on the firm’s thirty-year presence in the region, the ADGM will become a key location for Simmons & Simmons’ world-class asset management, investment funds, technology, and AI advisory capabilities – allowing the firm to respond to increasing client demand.

As one of the fastest growing financial centres, the ADGM is increasingly a strategically important hub for leading businesses and institutions in these sectors.

The new office comprises a multidisciplinary team, offering local and international clients market-leading expertise. The ADGM team includes partner and legal technology specialist Lucy Shurwood, and financial services regulation and derivatives partner Rezah Stegeman. They are also supported by Matt Pitman, partner and head of the firm’s asset management and investment funds (AMIF) sector and partner and Middle East head, Muneer Khan.

Simmons & Simmons’ presence in the ADGM builds on the firm’s recent opening in Riyadh last year and its established Dubai office – meaning the firm now operates in the Middle East’s three major financial and investment centres.

Muneer Khan, Middle East head, commented, “The ADGM is a dynamic and fast-growing hub at the heart of the region’s growth in asset management, investment funds and technology – all sectors where our clients are seeking innovative, specialist support. With our outstanding multidisciplinary team on the ground, backed by our formidable global network, we are superbly placed to help clients seize the opportunities of this rapidly growing market.”

Emily Monastiriotis, global managing partner, added, “Opening in the ADGM is a strategically important move for the firm. Building on our 30-year foundation in the Middle East, and following the recent opening of our Riyadh office, it strengthens our ability to support clients across the region’s key financial centres and growth sectors.”
