Addleshaw Goddard advises SEH Healthcare on award of Saudi behavioural health hospital PPP
Addleshaw Goddard has advised SEH Healthcare, a consortium formed by SMC Healthcare, Health Gates and Germany’s Dr Ebel Group on its successful award as operator of the SABIC Specialized Behavioural Healthcare Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, following confirmation by the Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Privatization & PPP (NCP).
The 15-year contract, awarded under Saudi Arabia’s Privatization and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme, covers the operation and management of the 150-bed facility constructed by SABIC and is one of the first of its kind in the Kingdom. The project forms part of the Kingdom’s Health Sector Transformation Program, a pillar of Vision 2030, which is designed to expand private sector participation in healthcare delivery and improve access to specialised mental health and behavioural care services.
Laura Coates, partner, Infrastructure Projects & Energy at Addleshaw Goddard in London, UK commented, “This has been a genuinely rewarding project to work on – not just because it represents the continued transformation of healthcare provision in the Kingdom and the value that the PPP model can bring, but because of what it is intended to deliver – greater access to specialised healthcare in a world-class facility delivered by an incredibly committed and experienced operator.”
The Addleshaw Goddard team was led by Laura Coates (partner), supported by Ana Bonnington (legal director), Thomasina Perera (associate) and Kayode Adeniran (associate) advising SEH Healthcare on the bid and subsequent negotiation of the project documents. Support was also provided by Alex Sarac (partner) and Aaina Grover (associate) in Riyadh and Dubai.
SEH was also advised by Altra Capital, led by Rossen Kolev (director capital projects & infrastructure).
This mandate underscores Addleshaw Goddard’s leading role in new healthcare PPPs and the continuing strength of AG in Saudi Arabia’s healthcare and PPP sector.
