Baker Botts opens Riyadh office as it marks 25 years in Saudi Arabia

To accommodate its ongoing growth, Baker Botts LLP has relocated its Riyadh office to a larger, modern space, marking 25 years since the firm opened in Saudi Arabia and celebrating a significant milestone in the firm’s history in the Kingdom.

Since opening in Riyadh in 2001, Baker Botts has built a long-standing presence in the Kingdom, advising clients on matters tied to the region’s momentum across energy, infrastructure, finance, corporate transactions, capital markets, disputes and other key sectors.

Located in Laysen Valley, the expanded office follows a year of strategic investment in the Kingdom. Since 2025, the Riyadh office has grown to 22 lawyers and business professionals, strengthening its regional capabilities. The new, cutting-edge office provides a modern platform with space designed and technology deployed to better serve clients and collaborate with colleagues.

Former US secretary of state and Baker Botts senior partner James A. Baker, III, whose decades-long relationships with the Kingdom helped strengthen ties between the United States and Saudi Arabia and laid the foundation for Baker Botts’ presence in the country, said, “When we first came to the Kingdom, we understood that lasting relationships are built on trust, respect, and a commitment to working together over the long term. It has been rewarding to see those relationships grow over the years and to witness the remarkable transformation taking place across the Kingdom. The opening of our new Riyadh office carries forward that belief and the vision we had from the beginning that is grounded in partnership, opportunity, and confidence in the future.”

“Saudi Arabia is one of the most dynamic markets in the world, and the scale of opportunity here is extraordinary,” said Danny David, managing partner of Baker Botts. “This move is more than an office relocation. It reinforces our commitment to the Kingdom, rooted in the legacy of Secretary Baker and carried forward by generations of Baker Botts colleagues, including Ambassador Robert Jordan, who served as US ambassador to the Kingdom from 2001 to 2003. It reflects the strength of our team, the trust of our clients, and our belief in the opportunities ahead. We are proud of what we have built, and we are investing with confidence in what comes next.”

Joza Al Rasheed, partner in charge of the Riyadh office, added, “We are incredibly proud to open our new Riyadh office, marking our next chapter which began in 2001, with the establishment of our first Middle East office in Riyadh. Building on our deep ties to the Kingdom, including the longstanding relationship of former US Secretary of State and Baker Botts senior partner James A. Baker III with the Kingdom, we are proud of the strong team we have built and even more excited about what lies ahead as we continue to invest in Saudi talent, grow our capabilities and further support the Kingdom’s growth and ambitions.”
