Iran and Projects specialist at CMS

CMS has appointed partner Amir Kordvani to head up the Middle East Projects Team. He will also lead the launch of the firm’s Iran Desk in Dubai, splitting his time between Tehran and Dubai. This follows the opening of the CMS office in Tehran in February 2016, marking the first international law firm to open in Iran. Kordvani joins CMS from Clyde & Co in Abu Dhabi, having spent over three years at the firm.

Kordvani brings with him considerable experience in the energy and resources sector, with a particular focus in the development of infrastructure projects. His experience includes advising on PPPs, including procurement regime, contractual documentation, construction and financing.

Kordvani has a deep understanding of the Iranian business environment and the Iranian laws which underpin that, and has significant experience advising on various aspects of doing business in Iran including foreign direct investment (FDI), private funds, contracts, projects work, licensing, joint ventures, and oil and gas projects. He is a recognised expert on Iranian business issues, regularly appearing in international business media.

Kordvani’s appointment expands CMS’ Dubai office to a 5-partner practice leading a team covering corporate, commercial, employment, projects, oil & gas, construction, litigation and finance/banking. It also builds on the firm’s expanding platform across the Middle East, and reaffirms CMS’ commitment to the region. Finance partner Shakeel Adli was recently appointed to launch CMS’ Islamic Finance practice in Dubai.
