Afridi & Angell announces partner promotion
Afridi & Angell announced that Rahat Dar has been promoted to partner. Based in the Dubai office, Dar’s practice includes banking and finance, capital markets, bankruptcy and insolvency, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Dar will co-lead the firm’s banking and finance practice. He regularly advises companies and financial institutions on a range of financing transactions, including conventional and Islamic finance. He also advises local and international companies on a range of capital markets transactions, including secondary offerings, financial products (including Sukuks) and IPOs.
Dar has advised on a number of landmark transactions including the first “Waste to Energy” project in the Northern Emirates and the first public private partnership (PPP) project under Dubai’s PPP law.
Dar obtained his MA in Law (Banking and Capital Markets) from the University of Westminster and an LLB from the University of Leicester. Dar is admitted to the Law Society of England and Wales. Prior to joining Afridi & Angell, Dar was an associate in the London office of an international law firm where he advised on a wide range of international mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and secondary offerings in the US and UK (AIM and the Official List).
