Afridi & Angell’s new partner
Afridi & Angell announced that James Bowden has been promoted to partner. Based in the Dubai office, Bowden advises on a broad range of corporate and commercial, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and regulatory, technology outsourcing and employment matters. In addition to Afridi & Angell in the UAE, he has practiced in Canada, in the Toronto office of a large global law firm. He gained in-depth technology outsourcing experience while working as in-house counsel with one of Canada's leading technology outsourcing companies. Bowden leads the firm’s privacy and cyber security practice and writes regularly on the subject and been a speaker at cloud and cyber security conferences. He is particularly well regarded by his clients for bringing a practical, business-oriented approach to the work, and for being an effective and diplomatic negotiator. He has earned a loyal client base in the UAE and is a welcome addition to the partnership. Bowden obtained a Bachelor of Law from Queen’s University in Canada and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Siam University in Thailand. In 2005, Bowden was called to the Ontario Bar.
