Al Tamimi & Co. launches its unique Trainee Solicitor Programme
Trainees at the firm can now qualify as England and Wales solicitors. The current selection of trainees is based across Bahrain, Jordan, Abu Dhabi and Dubai and due to be admitted in 2022.
Trainees at Al Tamimi & Co. can now qualify as England and Wales solicitors following the firm’s newly introduced Trainee Solicitor Programme. The first batch of trainees enrolled to this programme last week, which was kicked off by a Zoom induction. The current selection of trainees taking part in this programme are based across Bahrain, Jordan, Abu Dhabi and Dubai and are due to be admitted in 2022.
Following recent changes from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in the United Kingdom, who have now enabled local law firms to register as training providers, Al Tamimi & Co. took this unique opportunity to become one of the first local law firms in the Middle East and North Africa region to offer this programme to its trainees.
The current group of trainees, all of whom have an English law degree, with some having completed their LPC exams, will spend time across all of the firm’s different departments to get a truly all-round experience.
Samer Qudah, managing partner, said, “Although we already have around sixty England and Wales qualified solicitors across our offices in the region, being able to build on the common law jurisdiction capability will strengthen our offering to international clients in this region.”
Samir Kantaria, head of employment and SRA appointed training principal, commented, “The qualification is recognised worldwide and will offer a unique opportunity to trainees who want to progress their career in the region and who have the desire to work for international clients on matters that are common law governed.”
Andrew Rushworth, HR director, said, “We are very proud to be able to offer this programme as one of the only local law firms in the region, as it broadens our access to talent in the region who have the desire to qualify as an England and Wales qualified solicitor. Employee retention is one of core values and this programme will certainly help to achieve our ambitious goals in that respect.”
