Al Tamimi & Company celebrates milestones in Trainee Solicitor Programme
Following changes introduced by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in 2020, Al Tamimi & Company became one of the first local law firms in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to offer the England & Wales training programme. This forward-thinking approach led to the establishment of the Tamimi’s Talented Trainee (TTT) programme, a landmark initiative in legal training and development.
Since its launch in 2021, the programme has welcomed 43 trainee solicitors from across the region, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan, providing them with hands-on experience across all departments within the firm. This immersive approach provides trainees with a well-rounded legal foundation. Notably, 16 juniors have qualified as associates, with the programme achieving an 80% retention rate. Currently , 27 trainees are actively progressing through the TTT programme.
Last month, eight new trainees successfully completed their induction week, marking the beginning of their exciting journey at Al Tamimi & Company. From engaging sessions on time management and due diligence to introductions to the firm’s culture and teams, the induction provided a perfect blend of learning and collaboration. These future lawyers are now ready to embrace the programme’s opportunities and contribute to delivering exceptional client service.
The TTT programme is run through the Al Tamimi Academy, a dedicated learning hub established under the leadership of Essam Al Tamimi, who is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals.
Lucy Beales, head of the Al Tamimi Academy, shared her thoughts, saying, “Essam has always been passionate about the development and education of the future profession, with a longstanding vision to establish The Al Tamimi Academy. In early 2023, I was thrilled to launch The Academy as a dedicated learning hub for Al Tamimi & Company.’s employees, as well as for various clients and institutions across the UAE and the wider MENA region. Essam’s commitment extends beyond our Firm; he’s determined to provide opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds.”
Since its inception, the Academy has fostered impactful partnerships with academic institutions, bridging the gap between legal education and practice. Now in its second year, it is making significant strides, offering tailored development pathways across all career stages—from early-career programmes to leadership initiatives. These efforts align with Al Tamimi & Company’s strategic vision and its core value of investing in its people.
