Baker Botts announces leadership changes
Baker Botts L.L.P. announced a series of leadership changes, which are as follows. These changes took effect on December 18, 2023.
- Mark Rowley has been named Non-U.S. office partner-in-charge;
- Chris Caulfield has been named London partner-in-charge;
- Mark Bisch has been named Dubai partner-in-charge; and
- Shadi Haroon has been named Riyadh partner-in-charge.
“These partners have been selfless contributors to the firm and will bring valuable insight and experience to their new leadership roles, and I am delighted to have the benefit of their perspectives. I appreciate their willingness to serve,” said Danny David, managing partner of Baker Botts.
Mark Rowley, a global projects partner who has been with the firm for more than 20 years, has served as the firm’s London partner-in-charge since 2015 and as partner-in-charge of the firm’s Middle East Offices since 2019. In Mark’s new role, he will provide cross-departmental oversight for the strategy of offices outside the U.S. and the coordination with other offices throughout the firm. He will also help lead the recruiting efforts for the non-U.S. offices.
Chris Caulfield, who has been with the firm for more than 10 years, specialises in complex international disputes and in sanctions/export control matters. He has experience in a wide range of high-value contentious work in the English courts, expert determination and arbitration. Chris currently serves on the firm’s Partner Admissions Information Committee and the firm’s Ethics Committee. Chris was recently short-listed for the Private Practice Lawyer of the Year award at the UK’s prestigious Legal Business Awards.
Mark Bisch, the firm’s corporate department chair for the Middle East who has been with the firm for 10 years, serves as a trusted advisor to leading global entities and domestic businesses in their corporate and commercial transactions across the Middle East and North Africa, focusing on complex joint ventures, contracting, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. Mark has been residing and working in the Middle East for more than 27 years and is consistently ranked as a leading UAE practitioner by various legal publications, including Chambers Global.
Shadi Haroon has been with Baker Botts for 17 years. His practice centers on corporate structuring, equity offerings, mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactional matters. He has worked for leading overseas investors in their expansion into the Saudi Arabian market and has a strong track record in advising leading domestic entities on corporate and transactional mandates.
