Barlow relocates to Dubai

John Barlow has relocated from HFW's London office to the firm's Dubai office. The purpose of John's relocation is to support the rapidly expanding non-marine insurance and reinsurance practice (particularly in the area of Financial Lines) across the GCC region. Whilst John will be based in Dubai, he will continue advising the London market, providing a local presence in the region for those clients.

HFW's insurance and reinsurance group, headed by partner Sam Wakerley, comprises two partners, eight associates and a consultant, making it one of the leading practices in the region. The group services local and international insurers and reinsurers across all lines of business as well as providing advice to carriers on non-contentious matters. In addition, a comprehensive regulatory advice practice was launched earlier this year in response to client needs in the region.

Sam Wakerley, head of the firm's Middle East insurance and reinsurance practice said, "I am delighted to welcome John to our Middle East team. John brings with him over 20 years experience in Financial Lines and has significant experience working with clients in the GCC and Middle East. We have seen significant growth in this sector over recent years and John's arrival shows our clear commitment to Financial Lines and to the continued growth and development of our Middle East insurance and reinsurance offering."

Senior insurance and reinsurance partner Paul Wordley commented, "With more than ten insurance and reinsurance lawyers in Dubai, supported by HFW's global insurance and reinsurance resources, including a specialist London Market reinsurance team, HFW now boasts one of the strongest and experienced Middle East insurance and reinsurance teams. John's relocation demonstrates our commitment to growing the team and supporting our local, regional and international client base."
