Ben Smith promoted to partner

Clyde & Co announced the promotion of nine new partners across its international network, this includes Ben Smith in the Dubai office of Clyde & Co. The promotions are effective from May 1, 2017. Smith is a partner in Clyde & Co’s MENA Corporate team, and has worked for Clyde & Co in Dubai since 2008. He first moved to the Middle East in 1989.

Smith specialises in foreign direct investment. He advises clients on expansion into, and operations in, countries throughout the Middle East. He advises on the establishment and structuring of new entities and group restructuring, often in a cross border context. He has a detailed knowledge of the legal, regulatory and practical environment in which businesses operate in the region. Smith also advises clients on a range of commercial and compliance issues, including data protection, consumer protection and customs. He has drafted and negotiated numerous commercial agreements. Smith represents clients operating in many sectors including technology, media, pharmaceutical, retail, FMCG and hospitality. He has been seconded to one of the world’s largest IT hardware manufacturers and consultancy service providers and to a leading international hotel and leisure company.
