Costs in Commercial Litigation

The DIFC Courts organised Lecture Series No. 2 on May 5, 2014 at the DIFC Conference Centre. Senior costs Judge from the UK, Judge Peter Hurst shared an engaging presentation on the trends in relation to the costs of commercial cases, learnings from UK’s Jackson Reforms, the impact of the Mitchell v News Group Newspaper decision and what is reasonable and proportionate for a losing party to pay. Over 100 attendees mainly from international law firms based in Dubai participated in the series. The international attendees were connected via WebEx  as well. The session was chaired by Deputy Chief Justice Sir John Chadwick and Mark Beer, registrar and CEO of the DIFC Courts. The next lecture is scheduled for September 2014.
