Covington expands in Dubai

Covington recently celebrated the launch of the firm’s expanded Dubai office by holding an evening event for over 100 clients and friends of the firm at the Four Seasons, DIFC. The firm’s enhanced offering in the Middle East ranges from renewable and oil and gas projects, to economic development initiatives, compliance matters and disputes.  We can also deploy the firm’s widely renowned government affairs expertise to assist clients in navigating the local regulatory environment.

Bruce Wilson, the head of Covington’s Middle East practice, commented, “Covington has been advising clients on litigation, investigations, regulatory policy and transactional matters in the Middle East for over 20 years, but our new team in Dubai gives us the kind of local project capability that clients increasingly demand in the region.”

“We see terrific opportunities in Dubai and the regional market.  Our deep knowledge of governmental and regulatory policy issues, combined with our new project development and finance team’s expertise, gives us a real edge in supporting economic diversification initiatives around the region. Our broad-based policy expertise is of great importance to clients as the pace of development and modernization increases in the Middle East.  Many of these government-backed initiatives combine project infrastructure and commercial initiatives with the need for broad-based regulatory and economic policy support.  We’re seeing a continuing pipeline of privatization and related initiatives involving civic infrastructure, special economic and trade zones, and alternative energy projects — all of which demand the kind of turn-key financing and regulatory policy project support that was the primary rationale for our recent expansion in Dubai.”
