Dechert’s new international arbitration partner
Ravinder Bhullar has joined Dechert as a partner in the International Arbitration Practice. He will be based in the Dubai office. Bhullar was previously a partner at another international law firm in Dubai.
“We are very pleased to have Rav join the team,” said Arif Hyder Ali, who co-chairs the group with Eduardo Silva Romero. “He helps expand our capabilities in a critical region and brings great skill and experience that will benefit our clients. Our MENA-related disputes work has been expanding rapidly and having Rav adds to our strong experience in that international arbitration arena. Like all of our international arbitration specialists, we expect Rav to be handling cases all around the world.”
Bhullar specialises in international commercial arbitration and international litigation matters. With a focus on disputes arising out of construction, infrastructure and energy projects, he represents parties across these industry sectors, as well as mining, oil and gas and natural resources, where he has advised owners/investors, governments, contractors, and insurers. He also advises clients on complex commercial litigation concerning financial institutions, insurance, international trade and real estate.
He has extensive experience in arbitrations conducted under the rules of the ICC, SCC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA and DIAC, as well as ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL and other procedural rules. While experienced in arbitrations seated around the world, he has particular expertise in those connected with the Middle East and Gulf regions. Bhullar has also served as an arbitrator in several significant arbitrations.
Bhullar has been ranked as a leading international arbitration lawyer in publications such as The Legal 500 EMEA 2016, where he is recommended for construction, and in Chambers Global, where he has for many years been ranked for construction: dispute resolution.
Bhullar is the latest in a series of strategic hires for Dechert in the Dubai offices, following in recent months Hamish Walton in the corporate practice and Phillip Sacks in financial services.
