Dentons advises on the establishment of Oman Towers Company

The Company will help build a standardised telecommunications infrastructure to be utilised by all the licensed operators in Oman. The first stage of investment is estimated at more than OMR15 million.

Dentons has advised Oman 70 Holding Company (“Oman 70”) on the establishment of Oman Towers Company (the Company). Oman 70 owns a 56 percent stake in the Company, with ActivCo owning 34 percent and the Omani Government, represented by Oman Broadband Company, owning 10 percent. The agreement to establish the Company was signed in Muscat on February 20, 2018.

Oman Towers Company will help build a standardised telecommunications infrastructure to be utilised by all the licensed operators in the Sultanate of Oman. The first stage of investment, estimated at more than OMR 15 million, will involve the building of 600 towers to expand the network of operators.

Commenting on the establishment of the Company, Dentons’ Managing Partner and Head of Corporate in Muscat, Nick Simpson, said, “The formation of Oman Towers Company is an exciting development for the Sultanate’s telecom infrastructure and will bring with it a wide spectrum of opportunities for the economy.
