DIAC 40 – Young Practitioners Group

Dr. Habib Al Mulla

Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) has established a network for young arbitrators called DIAC 40 – Young Practitioners Group. The decision to launch the group was decided by the Board of Trustees headed by Dr. Habib Al Mulla, and by the Executive Committee headed by Prof. Dr. Tarek Riad within the framework of DIAC’s activities and after the recent appointment of the new Board of Trustees. In the last five years, the Executive Committee of DIAC has appointed 40 per cent of young arbitrators and 30 per cent of female arbitrators. DIAC 40 – Young Practitioners Group was created as an international arbitration network and forum for young practitioners and scholars to openly discuss topics and issues that are relevant to international arbitration, with a special focus on the MENA region. This initiative also provided new practitioners with the opportunity of networking and exchanging views with their peers, meeting experienced practitioners, and identifying mentor relationships and creating interest groups. The group also aims at providing practical training courses given by young practioners in both Arabic and English.

The membership will be open to all young practitioners and members of the arbitration community below 45 years old. Members will be invited to conferences, workshops, seminars and other networking events organised by the Group and other young arbitral institutions. There is no fee for joining the Group. It was launched on April 13, 2015 at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Dubai.
