DLA Piper strengthens disputes team

Simon Palmer, partner, and Suzannah Newboult, legal director, have been added to the DLA Piper’s Middle East litigation, arbitration and investigations team. Both have been relocated permanently from the UK to Dubai and their inclusion further solidifies the DLA Piper’s existing 34 lawyer dispute team.

Palmer has previously represented UK and international businesses at funder, employer, developer, contractor, sub-contractor and consultant level. He has handled disputes concerning power plants, stadia, process plant, hospitals, schools, laboratories, warehouses, roads, rolling stock, ports, mines and quarries and was described by Chambers & Partners as "a long standing specialist in contentious matters."

Newboult has previously lived in Qatar for three years representing developers, financial institutions, government bodies, contractors, engineering companies, consultants and end users. She was also involved in the steering committee for the drafting and setting up of QConstruct, an adjudication mechanism for construction disputes in Qatar to be overseen by the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre. With decades of international construction dispute experience, both are expected to nourish the DLA Piper’s dispute team.
