Emily Monastiriotis named new managing partner at Simmons & Simmons

Simmons & Simmons has announced that Emily Monastiriotis has been elected to become the next managing partner. Monastiriotis will take up the role from May 1, 2025, succeeding Jeremy Hoyland, who has held the position since 2011.
A vastly experienced, widely recognised lawyer, Monastiriotis has held several senior leadership roles. She is currently international head of dispute resolution, and also sits on the firm’s International Executive Committee. Monastiriotis made her name in the profession as a specialist in construction disputes and as a market leading expert on fire safety cases.
Beyond her expertise in dispute resolution, Monastiriotis has successfully spearheaded a number of initiatives at the firm to leverage technology to enhance legal practice, while passionately embracing the firm’s trailblazing development and adoption of AI. Monastiriotis is also the partner lead for the firm’s mentoring scheme.
Julian Taylor, senior partner at Simmons, commented, “Emily is a highly effective, forward-thinking and inspiring leader who will bring a wealth of experience to the role of managing partner. I look forward to working with her to build on the firm’s successes and seize the opportunities of the future.”
Commenting on her appointment as managing partner, Emily Monastiriotis said, “It’s a privilege to have been elected to this role by the partnership. Simmons has a strong foundation of sector-led, international growth thanks to the remarkable leadership of Jeremy Hoyland. I look forward to building on this by meeting our strategic priorities and continuing to innovate to deliver premium work for our global clients.”
