Eversheds Sutherland advises Air Products Middle East

Eversheds Sutherland has advised Air Products Middle East on its strategic acquisition of Air Liquide’s industrial gases business in the UAE.

The deal includes liquid bulk, packaged gases and specialty gases; and Air Liquide’s majority share in MECD, which owns and operates a liquid CO2 production facility in Bahrain.

Air Products Middle East is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., a NYSE-listed company which is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial gases.

The transaction was structured as two separate simultaneous acquisitions due to the involvement of different minority shareholders and specific regulatory considerations in each of the jurisdictions.

The firm’s cross-jurisdictional team included Zeid Hanania, partner, Steve Jennings, principal associate, and Rhydian Wyn, senior associate, with support from Hesham Eltahan, senior associate and Cristina Craciun, associate. Charlie Markillie, principal associate provided competition law advice.
