Fichte & Co strengthens local litigation and arbitration practice
Fichte & Co has announced the appointment of Walid Batisha as partner in the firm's office. Batisha, who has been heading Fichte's litigation department since he joined the firm in September 2012, has led his team to obtain several local landmark judgments for clients of the firm. Licensed to practice since 2002, Batisha is specialised on litigation in the commercial, civil and shipping areas specifically before UAE courts.
With the addition of Batisha, the firm has now five partners. Managing partner Jasamin Fichte commented, "Over the last 10 years, we have diversified our practice to offer a holistic approach to our client's requirements. With a full-fledged litigation team to boast, we have obtained an unprecedented level of efficiency and flexibility that is underlined through the numerous landmark judgments we have achieved throughout the years. Walid was and is essential for the on-going success of our litigation practice".
The firm also appointed Teresa Starr as barrister at the firm. Starris a registered legal practitioner at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts thereby allowing her to represent clients in any matter before the DIFC Courts.
As a result of her background at the the English Bar, Starr has extensive experience in drafting, advising and both oral and written advocacy gained in appearing in all level of Tribunals. Her practice at the English Bar involved all aspects of civil litigation including commercial matters, property disputes, and general contract law.
"Teresa's professional expertise becomes particularly valuable today, during the period of active growth in the number of local contentious projects handled by the firm. She has already made a significant contribution to the development of the practice since she joined us", said Fichte.
