GM to revamp legal department

General Motors (GM) is said to be overhauling its legal department and its culture in response to the deepening controversy relating to a product recall of millions of cars and a defect linked to 13 deaths as per The Global Legal Post.

Michael Millikin, general counsel, is said to have put a legal advisor at work on a project with the global heads of safety and vehicle management in order to share information more quickly, according to sources. Further changes are expected to be put in place by Millikin. Although he is of traditional retirement age, Millikin is said by GM to have no ‘current plans to retire’, remaining in post ‘at an important time for the company.’
