Hogan Lovells hires arbitration partner
Hogan Lovells is growing its Middle East disputes practice with the hire of arbitration partner Nabeel Ikram in Dubai. Ikram is an English-qualified solicitor advocate and a highly-regarded disputes practitioner in the Middle East.
Specialising in construction and engineering, and transport and infrastructure disputes he brought the first construction case in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.
In addition he has successfully advised clients on some of the region’s developments, focusing on risk management and claims preparation to assist in the avoidance of formal disputes.
Ikram is experienced in a wide variety of dispute resolution methods, from resolving issues without resort to formal dispute resolution, to mediation, adjudication, litigation, and arbitration. He has represented clients in arbitrations in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe under the major institutional rules such as Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the Dubai International Financial Centre-London Court of International Arbitration (DIFC-LCIA), the International Court of Arbitration (ICC), and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) as well as many ad-hoc arbitrations.
Ikram was formerly a national partner at Dechert in Dubai and has experience of international arbitration and litigation in the UAE having previously worked at Clyde & Co and Dewey & Leboeuf in Dubai after starting his career in the UK with Hogan Lovells (formerly Lovell White Durrant).
