Karm Legal Consultants (Karm), a UAE-based legal firm with a focus on corporate/commercial law and technology laws, was officially launched at Global Legal Forum on August 23, 2018 at Peace Palace, La Hague; the home to the International Court of Justice and the Mecca for the global legal community. The focus of the forum was discussions surrounding the use of legal technology, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the changing dynamics in law. Kokila Alagh, Founder of Karm, was part of a panel discussion on the need for tech and code in law, at the event. Alagh commented, “It was an absolute honour for us to launch at the Global Legal Forum, 2018 where we got a chance to be a part of pure exchange of ideas and experiences from the speakers representing every major facet of the legal system. We pride ourselves with our firm belief in and support of the evolution of technology and science through our application of the best possible analytical interpretations of law to suit our clients. The UAE aims to be a tech-driven country in the years to come, and our team is constantly working towards the goal by not looking at innovations and developments in isolation but in consonance with our clients’ broader business perspectives.” Karm’s key areas of practice are corporate and commercial advisory, corporate restructuring, real estate, fintech, blockchain, employment and labour laws, and policy and regulation.
