DENTONS was honoured at the Global Islamic Economy Summit on November 26, 2013 here in Dubai, in appreciation of its significant contribution to the Islamic banking sector. The only law firm recipient was presented with the award by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB). Launched at the first Global Islamic Economy Summit, these inaugural annual awards are designed to recognise creativity and innovation through inspiring ethical values in the Islamic banking sector.
ASHURST announced the appointment of Simon Beddow as co-head of the firm’s global Corporate, Commercial and Competition (‘CCC’) division, a role he will undertake with Sydney-based Co-head Phil Breden. Beddow has significant experience in all aspects of UK and international corporate finance and has wide experience of public and private M&A transactions, IPOs, secondary issues and private equity transactions. He replaces Stephen Lloyd who resigned from the position in November.
MORGAN Lewis announced that Moscow Business and Finance practice partner, Jonathan Hines has been elected to the Presidium (the governing body) of the International Commercial Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry (‘ICAC’) for a five-year term. Hines and a professor from Germany, are the first two non-Russians ever to be elected to the ICAC Presidium in its 80-plus year history.

HE Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), has announced the appointment following the signing of a SR1.85 million contract with Mohammed Al-Dhabaan, managing partner of Dhabaan & Partners.
