Lawyers fined by Abu Dhabi Judicial Department
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has issued a ban against two lawyers to stop them from work fora month and have them pay a fine, according to the Gulf News.
The ban came after complaints were filed against the first lawyer for not exerting enough effort in the case she was working on. The second lawyer also faced complaints for revealing his client’s confidential information. The plaintiff who had filed complaints against both lawyers said that she hired them to represent her in a case, but the lawyers did not go through details of the case with the Public Prosecution or the police. Despite the client’s request for reconciliation with the other party, the lawyers took the case to court. The client also claimed that the lawyers did not answer her phone calls, and did not accompany her when she was called in for investigations.
The second lawyer admitted revealing the client’s confidential information to her relatives without permission. However, the other lawyer denied not exerting enough effort in the case.
The Judicial Department has urged people to sign contracts when hiring lawyers in order to clearly state the duties and obligation of the lawyers.
