MHLF hires Hafedh Aman Thani

Hafedh Aman Thani has joined Mahmood Hussain Law Firm (MHLF) as its newest strategic partner. Thani is a senior, legal practitioner in the field of media, technology, corporate, with a focus on finance, fintech, innovations of digital platforms, media production, art management, events and telecommunication and legislation drafting for all aforementioned areas.

Thani is an external legal advisor for Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and has played a fundamental role in establishing the regulations and the legal system to the ADGM. He has contributed to the creation of ADGM’s strategic implementation and market connectivity and the development of legal frameworks.  Thani has reviewed and commented in the drafting laws related to intellectual, property, reservation of the antiques and artifacts. Thani has also played a key role in the development of the Dubai International Financial Center’s (DIFC) legal framework. He has held several high-level positions within the organisation, including senior legal counsel and the head of commercial and disputes at the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority and at Dubai International Financial Centre Investments. In addition to designing the regulatory and transaction requirements of DIFC’s real estate, he has also been central to developing the general laws governing property and real estate. Thani has also had a key role in developing the white paper for the draft law designed to safeguard and regulate the UAE’s cultural and heritage sites. As an ex-member of the UAE High Committee for anti-money laundering and advisor for various other important legal authorities, Thani in his role of advising key business entities in the shaping of their strategic and legal platforms. In addition to lecturing at the American University in Dubai on ethical and legal responsibilities in the mass media, he has also developed the legal frameworks for several prominent family businesses and semi-government entities in the UAE. Additionally, he sits on the board of directors for the Capital Broadcast Center in Egypt, and on the board of several investment companies in Kuwait. Thani is an independent board member in several family owned businesses such as OBK Group, Al Khouri Group and a board member in several independent business such as CBC Egypt, Kuwait Investments. He graduated from Dubai Police Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Law in 1998 in Dubai, UAE and a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Melbourne in Australia.
