» THE QICDRC hosted a roundtable discussion on the development of professional legal education in Qatar. The seminar was attended by universities, legal bodies and industry lawyers. Key issues addressed at the roundtable included the requirement for continuing legal education and training throughout a lawyer’s career; the creation of a new institute to oversee professional legal education; the curriculum for post-graduate and graduate courses; language skills and the need for apprenticeships before qualification. The practical requirements of local and international law firms, Q-companies and other major organisations who employ the majority of Qatari lawyers were also heard. The results of the discussions will be provided in a formal QICDRC consultation report next year.
