OMAN – Omani British Lawyers Association launches

A new bilateral group, the Omani British Lawyers’ Association (OBLA) held its inaugural event recently, attended by the Law Society’s vice-president Lucy Scott-Moncrieff, who spoke on the role of the Law Society in a diverse society. The Muscat seminar was opened by the British Ambassador, and provided a forum for Omani and British lawyers in the region to share experiences and views.

OBLA was established in 2011 to promote fellowship and understanding between the legal professions in the United Kingdom and the Sultanate of Oman.

The association aims to develop and strengthen legal, business and cultural links between lawyers; to support the role of lawyers, and the rule of law.

OBLA will be organising a programme of professional and social events, including joint seminars and congresses, of United Kingdom and Omani lawyers on matters of common interest.
