Partner promotions at Covington
Covington has promoted 14 lawyers to its partnership. “I am immensely proud to see this exceptional group of 14 talented lawyers become partners at Covington,” said Doug Gibson, Covington’s chair. “Their deep expertise and commitment to client service strengthen our bench across practices and geographies. We continue to cultivate talent from within to ensure succession planning and that we have the senior resources necessary to meet our clients’ needs. This class reflects not only the breadth of opportunity across our firm, but also our ongoing dedication to recruiting, developing and retaining lawyers who will carry Covington forward with excellence.” The new partners are based in Dubai, London, Boston, San Francisco, New York and Washington.
The partners based in the Middle East are Haykel Hajjaji (Dubai) and Antonio Michaelides (London/Dubai).
Hajjaji focuses on cross-border corporate and commercial transactions. He advises clients across a broad range of industries, including Infrastructure, Technology, Life Sciences, Logistics and Defense & Aerospace. Haykel has particular experience in inbound and outbound M&A transactions, joint ventures, market entry, doing-business and corporate reorganizations in the MENA region.
Michaelides advises clients in heavily regulated sectors on a broad range of HR regulatory and compliance issues and is frequently called upon by clients to advise on navigating international HR-legal compliance issues—including labor laws, international equity compliance and immigration matters—and find solutions to their most complex global employment and benefits challenges. His practice is global and often involves a cross-border element, with a particular focus on Europe and the Middle East. Antonio has extensive experience with government affairs and regulatory matters in the Middle East, where his practice is much broader, and often involves advising government entities, as well as private companies, on a variety of regulatory infrastructure and compliance issues.
