Addleshaw Goddard has made a further lateral hire into its international Infrastructure, Projects and Energy practice (IPE) announcing the appointment of Paul Jones from Dubai’s Dragon Oil.

Jones, who is returning to London from Dubai, has extensive experience across the full energy-value chain, with a particular emphasis on advising clients on upstream oil and gas, LNG, energy transition projects to low carbon, and transactions across Africa and the Middle East.

Prior to moving to the Middle East in 2016, where he transitioned from a client secondment while at Bracewell LLP to working for Dragon Oil as general counsel, Jones worked extensively across African markets in law firms in both Ghana and Tanzania, advising clients on transactions in over twenty countries across the continent.

Jones’ hire follows on from the lateral hires of partners Suzanne Moir, from DWF and his former Bracewell LLP colleague, Martin Stewart-Smith earlier this year, and marks the tenth lateral hire into AG’s IPE team in the past eighteen months, as part of a strategic plan to grow its energy capability.

Richard Goodfellow, head of AG’s Infrastructure, Projects and Energy Group commented, “Paul is a strategic hire for us. His international experience, coupled with his strong oil and gas and transition to low carbon credentials are a perfect fit for our energy practice and enables us to continue to advance our footprint internationally. Having additional insight into the nuances clients face when operating across global markets is key and Paul’s hire not only helps with this, but puts us one step closer to assembling one of the strongest global energy practices in the market.”
