Philip Clarke joins Stephenson Harwood
Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its regulatory practice with the addition of Philip Clarke, who joins the firm as a partner in Dubai.
Clarke, a financial services regulatory specialist, has more than 12 years of experience advising on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious regulatory matters, internal investigations and disputes with a regulatory element. He has worked in private practice, in-house within the banking sector and, most recently, as senior legal counsel within the Legal Division of the Dubai Financial Services Authority.
“We’re always on the look-out for outstanding legal talent to join our team and Philip brings just that,” said Sharon White, Dubai managing partner, Stephenson Harwood. “The evolving regulatory environment in the region and a more active regulatory enforcement profile has resulted in an uptick in client demand for financial services regulatory and investigations advice. Philip’s experience complements our existing global practice and enhances the support we can provide to our clients across the region.”
“Philip brings a unique perspective, with deep experience covering contentious and non-contentious matters – working in-house for Barclays and on client secondment, in private practice in London and Dubai, and most recently in a regulatory role at the DFSA,” said Sean Jeffrey, head of regulatory litigation, Stephenson Harwood. “Being able to offer clients such a range of regulatory insights brings an invaluable angle to our service, and another dimension to our existing regulatory capability.”
