Reed Smith advises Reuben Brothers on consortium acquisition of Newcastle United Football Club

Reed Smith has advised the Reuben Brothers Group on its participation in the takeover of Newcastle United Football Club by a consortium including the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) and PCP Capital Partners, led by Amanda Staveley.

The consortium has acquired the club from St James Holdings Limited, being a company owned and controlled by Mike Ashley.

The Reed Smith team that advised the Reuben Brothers Group on the acquisition and negotiated shareholder arrangements between the consortium was led in London by Global Corporate Group partner Mike Young, supported by senior associates Daryl Cue and Matthew Bowen.

Young commented, “We are very pleased to have supported Jamie Reuben and the broader Reuben Brothers Group in respect of another material transaction. After extensive negotiations between the parties since 2020, completion of the takeover represents an exciting new chapter for the club.”
