RICS and DIFC Academy of Law partner for mediation training
The collaboration will see the delivery of a specialist mediation course within the UAE, to professionals interested in commercial mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism.
RICS and DIFC Academy of Law (AOL) have announced a collaboration to deliver dispute resolution training in the Middle East.
The collaboration will see RICS and the Academy delivering the specialist mediation course within the UAE, to professionals interested in robust commercial mediation as a viable dispute resolution mechanism. Compared to conventional litigation and arbitration, mediation allows far greater flexibility, relationship preservation, as well as cost and time savings and is growing in popularity in the region
The ‘RICS ACRE™ Facilitative & Evaluative Mediation Training Programme’ has been running in the Middle East for the past five years, and over 150 mediators have been trained to date, including several representatives from DIFC Courts. The course enables delegates to manage mediations in a robust but flexible manner, manage liability and drive solutions in an Analytical, Commercial, Restorative and Expert (ACRE) manner, far from the traditional ‘soft and facilitative’ perception of what mediation is.
Successful completion of the course allows delegates to apply for inclusion on the RICS Global President’s Panel of Accredited Dispute Resolvers and Expert Witnesses.
“With a rising number of contractual disputes in the region, the need for comprehensive methods of alternative dispute resolution training is growing. The collaboration was a natural next step in the development of the course. With the support and collaboration with DIFC AOL, we can reach out to a wider range of potential delegates, offer the course in world class facilities at DIFC, and provide delegates with the confidence that they are receiving the highest quality mediation training endorsed by the Dispute Resolution Authority.” Robert Jackson, RICS regional director
“We are delighted to collaborate with RICS in delivering a mediation course that has marquee global value. Mediation skills are increasingly important for professionals working in roles that require the quick and amicable resolution of disputes. Launching this programme is a natural next step in executing our strategy of expanding services in legal and business education with the goal of equipping professionals with the tools they need to operate effectively in an international commercial setting.” David R. Gallo, director, Academy of Law
The next course is running on 2-6 May at the DIFC Academy of Law and there are limited places available.
