Simmons & Simmons appoints new Middle East head

Simmons & Simmons has announced that Muneer Khan has been appointed Middle East regional head.

Khan joined Simmons in 2006 and prior to his new position, headed up the firm’s Middle East financial markets and financial services regulatory practices. He is also a member of the firm’s international FinTech team. His practice focuses on funds and financial services regulatory matters, and he advises both regional and international financial institutions and asset management groups on a wide range of regulatory and transactional matters.

Khan’s clients include large family-owned groups and governments, whom he has advised on a range of matters, from the development of investment platforms and governance structures to major regulatory reform initiatives.

In his new role, Khan will lead the firm’s presence in the Middle East. Khan’s appointment follows the hire of Aditi Sanyal as a partner in the Simmons’ Middle East banking practice.

Congratulating Khan on his new role, managing partner Jeremy Hoyland commented, “I am pleased to announce that Muneer will be taking over from David Risbridger as Middle East regional head. With his Middle East market experience and successful track record of advising clients on complex financial transactions, structures and regulatory reform, he is well placed to lead the firm’s offering out of the Middle East.”

On his appointment, Muneer Khan commented, “I am delighted to take on this new position at Simmons. David Risbridger has done a stellar job of building the firm’s profile and service offering in the Middle East. We have a truly excellent team and will continue building on Simmons’ reputation for quality and innovation in the region.”

David Risbridger will remain with the firm as a consultant, effective from October 2021.
