Simon Elliott joins Gowling WLG’s partnership

Gowling WLG has announced the promotion of Simon Elliott to its partnership, reflecting the firm’s continued sector-focused investment in high-performing talent across its international network.

Elliott is a corporate partner based in the firm’s Dubai office, with over 8 years’ experience in the UAE focusing on transactions in the energy and infrastructure and technology sectors. He is a trusted advisor to government sector clients, multinational corporations and regional and international sponsors on a wide range of complex, cross-border M&A, joint venture and projects transactions across the Middle East and North Africa region.

Elliott has extensive experience advising regional funds on acquisitions across the GCC, as well as leading on strategic cross-border investments and joint ventures in the technology and energy and infrastructure sectors. He also regularly advises on sponsor-side matters on P3 and bilateral projects in the Middle East and Africa and acts for government authorities on the corporate aspects of such transactions.

Tim Casben, head of Middle East, commented,”I am delighted that Simon has been promoted to the partnership, it is well deserved and I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with Simon as we build out the corporate practice. I am particularly delighted that as we implement our regional growth strategy the first new partner is a promotion from the existing team, highlighting the depth of talent that we already have as a business.” Elliott has been recognised as a notable practitioner for M&A by the legal directory IFLR1000 and has been noted as a key lawyer and name to note for corporate and commercial in the Legal 500 MENA rankings.
