Trowers & Hamlins announces seven new partners
Trowers & Hamlins promoted seven new partners across its offices in London, Dubai and Manchester. The appointments took effect from April 1, 2013. The promotions are spread across several of the firm’s disciplines including banking and finance, employment, housing projects, litigation & dispute resolution, and projects and construction. CHERYL CAIRNS is the new partner for construction in Dubai. She specialises in both UAE domestic and international contentious and non-contentious construction law, providing pre-dispute contract advisory services as well as being experienced in conducting arbitrations under various institutional arbitral rules including the DIAC, ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL Rules. Cairns acts for a variety of employers, contractors and subcontractors and her notable instructions include acting on behalf of a specialist systems subcontractor, the Claimant, in an AED 282m claim arising from a major infrastructure project. Cairns is also regularly appointed to sit as an arbitrator. On the non-contentious side, she frequently advises clients on procurement issues, amendments to redress the balance of risk in standard form building contracts, consultancy agreements and forms of security. The other promotions are of Paul Bartter (projects and construction), Imogen Fisher (banking and finance), Nicola Ihnatowicz (employment), Peter Kitson (projects and construction), Steve Nichol (litigation & dispute resolution) in London and Kate Bouchier (housing projects) in Manchester.
