UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Use of graphic images on tobacco products
IN accordance to the government’s efforts to reduce smoking, new graphic photos on packets are being introduced.
The UAE anti-tobacco federal law which was approved last year stipulated the use of graphic warning images covering half of a cigarette packet. According to Gulf News, the new tobacco retail products, such as cigarettes and shisha, bearing the new graphic images are expected to be in retail stores soon.
The report says that the lobbying for graphic warning images on tobacco products has been a challenging process, however tobacco manufacturers have been introduced to the new standards and they all have to abide to the regulations.
