Walkers promotes three in Dubai

Walkers has annouced the promotion of three senior lawyers in its Dubai office. These promotions reflect the hard work and quality service that each practitioner delivers to our clients on a regular basis and we are pleased to welcome them into their new roles.

Cate Barbour has been promoted to senior counsel. Barbour is part of Walkers’ Insolvency and Dispute Resolution practice and advises on the laws of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands. She has broad commercial litigation experience, including company and shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, trust disputes, and fraud claims. She regularly acts for clients based in Russia, the CIS and the Middle East, and has particular experience in assisting clients in relation to freezing orders and other urgent injunctive relief. Currently based in Dubai, she has also worked in the Walkers offices in the BVI, Cayman Islands and in London.

Johanna Hendry has been promoted to senior counsel. Hendry is a member of the firm’s Global Finance Group. She advises on Jersey, BVI and Cayman Islands law in relation to general banking, leveraged, acquisition and project finance. Johanna previously worked in the Walkers Jersey office.

Luke Petith has been promoted to senior counsel. Petith is a member of the firm’s Insolvency and Dispute Resolution practice. He specialises in commercial litigation and has experience of high value contractual disputes, trust litigation, fraud claims, and urgent applications for interim relief. Luke advises on matters of BVI law and Cayman Islands law. He has previously practiced law in London and the BVI.

All promotions were effective from July 1, 2021.
