Amjad Hussain takes on office managing partner role for K&L Gates in Doha and Dubai

K&L Gates has named Doha partner Amjad Hussain as office managing partner for its Doha and Dubai offices, effective immediately. Hussain succeeds Tony Griffiths, who returns to full-time fee earning after 22 years of distinguished management.

The appointment reflects the growing importance of Qatar and the wider Gulf region to K&L Gates’ clients and global platform. K&L Gates has maintained a presence in Doha since 2011 and in Dubai since 2009, advising clients on complex domestic and cross-border matters across the Middle East.

Hussain brings more than two decades of experience advising clients across the Middle East. He is the senior partner and Middle East regional lead for K&L Gates’ Corporate, Banking, Islamic Finance, and Asset Management and Investment Funds practices, and is consistently rated by the leading, independent legal directories as a leading lawyer in Qatar, including as the sole Highly Recommended Lawyer in Banking & Fintech – Finance in Qatar by the Lexology Index in 2025. He has advised on many of the region’s landmark transactions, including the establishment of the first ETFs and REITs in Qatar, preparing more than 40 laws and regulations, and leading on the US$2 billion merger of Masraf Al Rayan and Khaliji Bank.

Under Hussain’s leadership, K&L Gates will continue to provide a full-service legal offering across the GCC region, advising major state-backed entities, family conglomerates, financial institutions, and multinational corporations on their most significant transactions, projects, disputes, and regulatory matters.
